Summary

About the Position: Serves as Senior Strategic Analyst for the Army Transition Office, Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7. Performs a full range of coordinating, consolidating, managing and staffing related actions within a directorate, commands and selected direct reporting units.

This position is a TERM position. It is time-limited and may be extended up to a maximum of six years. This position may be converted to a permanent career or career-conditional appointment without further competition as long as all requirements are met. To be eligible for conversion, the employee must complete at least 2 years of current continuous service under a term appointment in the competitive service AND the employee must have a current performance rating under such term appointment of at least fully successful or equivalent.DoD Components may extend competitive service term appointments made in accordance with the" Modification of Temporary and Term Appointments Within the Department of Defense" memorandum beyond 6 years up to 8 years.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Duties require lengthy periods of sedentary work, utilizing computer, communications and telephonic skills. Flexibility to move about is primarily controlled by the Analyst. Physical and mental control is required as individual will share office space with a number of other individuals doing similar work.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in an office setting that is well lighted, heated, and ventilated. Duties require duty hour flexibility to meet mission requirements. As subject matter expert and point of contact (POC) for Army Transformation/Army Campaign Plan-wide responsibilities, individual is required to be available during times when targets of opportunity are present or to meet leadership requirements and time schedules.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience conducting analysis; experience assisting the management and execution of strategic efforts; and experience working staffing procedures that affect various agencies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
