Responsibilities

  • Provide support on the administration, utilization, and expenditure of research resources in relation to space, property, safety, security, building services, and the development and establishment of core facilities.
  • Independently coordinate, manage, and implement the facilities' major renovation and construction projects.
  • Direct and monitor all major construction, maintenance, and renovation projects within the facilities.
  • Work with administrative and scientific staff to define requirements, obtain cost estimates, coordinate priorities, and assist in resolving problems.
  • Ensure the proper design, installation, modification, repair, maintenance, and testing of fire safety and life safety systems within the facilities, including coordinating with the Division of Safety.
  • Develop special analyses and presentations to justify and explain particularly complex or significant aspects related to facilities operations and support.

Qualifications

You qualify at the GS-13 level, if you meet one of the following qualification requirements:

You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: Coordinating the oversight and operation of facilities, space, and building services; developing and managing budgetary estimates and justifications for facilities operations; developing methods to improve utilization of resources; performing technical assessments of facilities to determine condition and renovation requirements; and/or participating in meetings with customers, project managers and operations personnel on planning activities related to facilities projects.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
