Summary

About the Position: Serve as the Director of the CBRNE Analytical and Remediation Activity (CARA), a subordinate unit - directorate level - of the 20th Support Command, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and High Yield Explosives (CBRNE), US Army Forces Command (FORSCOM).

Responsibilities

  • The CG/DCO reviews and discusses with the incumbent major management policies, principles, and problems affecting accomplishment of the mission, and relies on incumbent's recommendations in establishing a course of action.
  • Plans, directs, manages, supervises and evaluates program operations and activities.
  • Prepares, justifies, and administers the activity?s budget and contracting initiatives.
  • Develops and presents briefings to senior-level Commanders, Civilians, and contractors on the activity?s capabilities and special interest missions.
  • Responsible for planning and directing CARA operations and activities.

  • Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance.
  • Incumbent is required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450.
  • This position has been designated a Testing Designated Position.
  • This is an EMERGENCY ESSENTIAL (E-E) position subject to deployment.
  • The military ACU is the duty uniform when deployed or in field environments.
  • Incumbent may be required to work nights, weekends, holidays and/or irregular duty hours commensurate with mission requirements.
  • Incumbent may be required to perform TDY at least 25% of the time on an annual basis.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential"
  • This position requires the completion of pre-employment Physical and an annual examination thereafter.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Plan, Direct and Supervise program operations and activities within a highly specialized Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and High Yield Explosives (CBRNE) organization; (2) ) Prepare, justify and administer an activity's budget and contracting initiatives; AND (3) Interpret, evaluate and apply policies, directives and regulations issued by higher headquarters as it relates to the organization.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14 or above).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
