Responsibilities
This position is located in the Correctional Services Branch, Correctional Programs Division of the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) and is responsible for the development and management of Central Office's physical security protective programs which are established to protect BOP information, Central Office, and non-institutional level facilities (Regional Offices and Residential Reentry Management (RRM) offices). Physical security protective programs consist of the following areas: guard force management; alarm system design and maintenance; access control-system; identification card and credential management; locks; crime prevention; and key control.
The incumbent is recognized as an authority in all areas of physical security protection, and as such, shall be primarily responsible for the planning and implementation of the program in multiple buildings. The incumbent is BOP's representative concerning security for outside law enforcement including Capitol Hill Police, Federal Protective Service (FPS), Metropolitan Police Department, and the Department of Justice (DOJ), as well as the subject matter expert and representative for BOP concerning access control and security for Central Office.
Travel Required

There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position.
Experience:
You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in federal service. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to successfully perform the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled.
Some examples of this qualifying experience are:
If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as number of hours worked per week) spent in the activities.

The representative rate for this position is $91,740 per annum ($43.96 per hour).
Special Conditions of Employment Section:
Initial appointment to a supervisory/managerial position requires a one-year probationary period.
The incumbent is subject to geographic relocation to meet the needs of the agency.
Appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of a urinalysis, physical, and background investigation. All applicants are subject to National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and credit checks.

- Experience working with and knowledge of BOP policy/procedures specifically in the area of Correctional Programs/Services and how the policies relate to the operation.
- Experience coordinating and providing security for special events.
- Experience working with a contract guard force ensuring compliance to the contract and resolving problems associated with the guard force.
- Experience with electronic surveillance equipment used to provide security to BOP occupied areas.
