Responsibilities

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), U.S. Department of Justice, is seeking an experienced attorney to work in the Office of Chief Counsel, International and Intelligence Law Section (CCI/CCN), DEA Headquarters, located in Arlington, Virginia. Weekly travel to other DEA offices in the Northern Virginia area is expected.

The attorney will be responsible for advising DEA's 90 offices in over 75 countries worldwide on all aspects of international law. The attorney will provide legal, policy, and operational advice on criminal law issues raised by DEA law enforcement operations abroad, including the application of the Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Amendments overseas; undercover investigative activities; lures; money laundering; maritime operations; and use of sensitive equipment in foreign countries. The attorney will draft, negotiate, and counsel on international agreements; coordinate international and interagency transactions; interpret and advise on agency as well as interagency policy; and provide domestic and foreign training as requested. The attorney will also provide legal advice about gathering, analyzing and disseminating tactical, investigative, and strategic drug information and evidence to federal, state, local, tribal and foreign law enforcement counterpart agencies.
