Responsibilities

  • You will apply knowledge of diverse concepts , principles and theories to plan , design solutions , evaluate and install net work and telecommunications equipment, systems and networks.
  • You will provide technical direct ion and resolves unusual problems
  • You will identify and collect requirement data .
  • You will analyze requirement data for duplication and for possible synergy to meet needs with minimal use of resources.
  • You will coordinate and track data calls for input to program budget objectives for IT capabilities, IT support, and other communications and mission support requirements.
  • You will lead efforts for procurement of IT investments, resources, and assets.
  • You will prepare or review Base Electronic Systems Engineering Plans, site and design specifications and provides on- site consultation.
  • You will monitor work in progress to ensure approaches and procedures used meet engineering specifications and are compatible with existing technology.
  • You will evaluate, initiate, and execute the necessary actions required for management and procurement of telecommunications and network services, network equipment and facilities associated with mission support.
  • You will identify problem areas or delay factors and internal controls required for corrective action.
  • You will Develops sketches, diagrams, computations and notes which, when used with verbal communications are used for the preparation of the installation plans.

Qualifications

Applicants must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly relates to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized Experience at the GS-11 grade level would be demonstrated by

Experience and extensive knowledge of diverse concepts, principles and theories to plan, design solutions, evaluate and install network and telecommunications equipment, systems and networks.

Experience in topologies, protocols and Information Assurance (IA) and cyber security requirements are necessary to provide technical direction and resolve unusual problems.

Experience applying problem solving skills and ability for developing test criteria/acceptance for modifications, forecasting performance, and recognizing trends.

Experience and extensive knowledge of IT subject matter to resolve unusual, complicated and critical problems, develop approaches and settle conflicts in assignments.

Experience applying project management techniques in order to lead efforts to review Base Electronic Systems Engineering Plans, site and design specifications and provide on-site consultation and develop timely and effective solutions to problems/issues.

Experience and ability to give a high level of attention to detail is essential.

Excellent communication skills, both orally and written, are absolutely necessary.

Experience and proficient in use of all Microsoft Office applications, and expert in EXCEL.

This position is within the Work Category 411 at Work Level II, Series and Grade GS-12.

This position is a DoD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 U.S.C. 1599f.

This position has been designated as a Cyber IT/DoD Cybersecurity Workforce {DCWF) position in specialty area 411 (Technical Support Specialist), and as a condition of employment, incumbents of the position are required to comply with the DON Cyber IT/DCWF Program requirements of SECNAV M-5239.2, which include:
  • Earn and maintain appropriate credentials from the Cyber IT/DCWF Qualification Matrix (described in SECNAV M-5239.2) associated with the specialty area and level commensurate with the scope of major assigned duties for the position to which you are assigned, and;
  • 2. Participate in a continuous learning program as described in SECNAVINST 1543. A minimum of 40 hours of Cyber IT/DCWF related continuous learning annually documented in a current individual development plan signed by both the employee and supervisor.
