Responsibilities

  • Develop, analyze, and recommend program-planning documentation for assigned program elements; and collaborate with other TSD leaders on the formulation of short and long-range plans, goals, and objectives.
  • Plan, control, direct and facilitate the work of professional and technical personnel of the assigned branch.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable technical advisor to the Secret Service and other government agencies, as well as contractor personnel, particularly in regard to the feasibility and application of new scientific studies and major advances in protective and/or investigative technology.
  • Provide documentation of activities as required, such as monthly updates, briefing books, project displays, and maintaining official files; and prepares project briefings.
  • Develop and recommend plans for future initiatives, proposals, projects and activities to ensure that the Secret Service has the opportunity to field the most current protective and investigative technology and/or participate in its development.

Obtain and maintain a Tier 5 Secret/SCI Clearance/polygraph required

Certify you have registered with the Selective Service System if you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, or certify you are exempt from having to do so under Selective Service law.

Qualifications

You must demonstrate at least one (1) year of the defined specialized experience and meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR).

Specialized experience is defined as:
  • performing duties such as planning, controlling, directing, and coordinating the work of personnel in the assigned branch; developing initiatives, proposals, projects, and activities to support protective countermeasures; applying comprehensive engineering theories, concepts, principles, standards, and methods; evaluating and advising management and administration on engineering development programs; serving as Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) for projects; and providing consultative advice on the feasibility and application of new scientific studies and major advances in engineering technologies and processes.

The Office of Technical Development and Mission Support (TEC), Technical Security Division (TSD), is responsible for providing a technically secure environment for the President at the White House, Vice Presidential Residence, and such places that the President and Vice President may be temporarily located and providing technical security for other protectees during travel and at their residences, as directed or requested.
