Summary

Unpaid internships with OPIC are offered year round in Washington, D.C., and can last from 12 weeks to 12 months. Duties vary based on the department and/or office in which the intern is placed. OPIC's Internship Program offers valuable experience that contributes to educational and professional growth, and may be applied in any future employment endeavor, including federal, state and local governments or in the private sector.

Responsibilities

Interns assist FMD Officers in managing the FLGF, syndications and capital mobilization programs, including assessing the financial performance of the financial intermediaries and their sub-projects (i.e., ascertaining ongoing OPIC loan compliance and other related tasks), and performing industry and country risk analyses. Additional duties include reviewing financial statements, analyzing models of projected project cash flows, research on policy issues, preparation of country economic and political risk analyses, preparation of credit reviews of outstanding loans, and other related duties assigned.

  • US Citizenship is required
  • Must be currently enrolled at least part-time in an accredited college or university
  • Must be suitable for Federal employment, determined by background investigation
  • Selective Service registration required for male applicants, unless exempt


Qualifications

Applicants must be U.S. citizens enrolled at least part-time in an accredited college or university in a relevant advanced business degree program such as finance, accounting, international affairs or development. Successful completion of a background investigation is also required.
