Position Summary Information Basic Function The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for engineering and managing the College?s virtual and physical server, storage, backup and cloud environments. The position ensures the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the College?s infrastructure and Microsoft environment including Active Directory and Office 365 by monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing hardware and software systems. This position serves as a technical lead which will be responsible for project implementations, the coaching/mentoring of other staff, and the highest escalation point for resolving complex technical issues. Duties and Responsibilities ?Develops strategies, architects, and maintains the enterprise Windows Server environment, including Active Directory, group policy management, and DNS/DHCP.?Manages cloud environments including Office 365 and ADFS integrations.?Maintains, supports, and optimizes core systems and related back-end infrastructure including, but not limited to Cisco UCS, Netapp Storage,VMware, and hyperconverged technologies. ?Acts as a project lead for enterprise initiatives and must collaborate with other work units including networking and security to successfully implement new systems. ? Responsible for recommending and executing modifications to the infrastructure to improve efficiency, security, reliability and performance. ?Applies proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent applicable experience or training. Extensive hands-on experience in infrastructure services including data centers, server and storage management, virtualization, networking, systems management and/or project management. Previous experience in a team lead or supervisory role. Preferred Qualifications Master?s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent applicable experience or training. Extensive hands-on experience with the following technologies: Microsoft Server 2012/2016 including Active Directory management, Office 365/Exchange, Microsoft System Center, and Powershell. VMware Vsphere 6.5/6.7 and Cisco UCS. Experience with Cisco HCI, Netapp storage, Rubrik, and Varonis is a plus. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities ?Demonstrated expert knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server Operating System, Active Directory, Group Policy Management, DNS/DHCP, Exchange, and Office 365 (Exchange Online).?Demonstrated experience administering enterprise scale deployments of VMware (VSphere/ESXi) ?Demonstrated experience managing network storage and backup environments. ?Advanced analytical and problem resolution skills.?Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, mentor technical team members. ?Strong verbal and written communications skills ?Ability to effectively communicate with senior management, technical peers, vendors, and users. ?General knowledge of networking concepts, technologies, structured database and application/web servers.
