Position Summary Information Basic Function To provide Tier 2 network support, technical support, planning, testing, integration, and the maintenance of the Woodbridge Campus Information Technology infrastructure including WRC, Quantico Marine Base, Ft. Belvoir computer labs, classrooms, and offices. Duties and Responsibilities Also provides effective and responsive technical and networking support, planning, testing, integration, and the maintenance of hardware and software in all classrooms and offices and instructional equipment such as computer carts, Smart Boards, LCD TV?s, Projectors, Sympodiums, etc. of the Woodbridge Campus Information Technology infrastructure as well as classrooms and offices at off campus locations such as; Quantico Marine Base and Ft. Belvoir.Work with the IT Manager to provide appropriate technology training to students. Oversee the daily coordination and functioning of the open computer lab. Maintain the working order of lab equipment and supplies, which may include troubleshooting both hardware and software and making appropriate recommendations regarding repair. Train new employees. Create working schedule for employees. Create new training programs for students. Minimum Qualifications - Associate?s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field OR combination of education, training and experience. ? Experience with Windows operating systems, servers and computers. ? Experience supporting VOIP telephony systems? Experience with networking systems? Experience with Active Directory? Experience with imaging systems Preferred Qualifications - Bachelor degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or Engineering. -Extensive job experience in the computing field.-CompTIA Network + certification.- Previous training experience- Experience Managing large computer inventory and replacement plans. - Some supervisory experience. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities ? Extensive knowledge of complex LAN configurations which include multiple off-site locations communicating with main campus; ? Extensive knowledge of complex WAN configurations and administration which include multiple off-site locations communicating with main campus; ? Extensive knowledge of Wireless Access Points, their security options, and administration; ? Extensive knowledge of VoIP hardware, software and troubleshooting; ? Extensive knowledge of various microcomputer hardware and application software; ? Extensive knowledge of Network/Server Administration using Active Directory, DHCP, latest Windows Server operating system; ? Extensive knowledge of back-up applications; ? Ability to install, modify, troubleshoot, and repair computer networking software & hardware (including LANs, PCs, with removable hard drives-each hard drive requires different LAN configurations, printers, and switches, servers, and cabling) ? Extensive knowledge of CISCO switches, routers, and hubs; ? Extensive Knowledge of Servers? Familiarity with laboratory requirements for IST courses; ? Excellent organizational and communication skills; ? Ability to lead and instruct fellow team members (Tier 2, and Tier 1, and volunteers); ? Ability to make decisions and make purchases according to State policy and procedures; ? Ability to research various problems or latest software, hardware, or computer system and make recommends to higher level management; ? Ability to use Remote Connection to perform various job duties; ? Ability to work with higher and lower lever users to ensure all tasks or projects are completed in a timely manner; ? Ability to work independently and to work effectively with individuals of varying technical knowledge; ? Ability to develop and implement logical and workable technical/administrative procedures; ? Skills in technical writing and in information system need assessment. Good organization and record keeping skills. Work with the IT Manager to provide appropriate technology training to students. Oversee the daily coordination and functioning of the open computer lab.
