The Prevention of Blindness Society of Metropolitan Washington (POB) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the improvement and preservation of sight by providing services, education, advocacy and innovation. We are expanding our major programs for children - Vision Screening & Eyeglasses. We serve DC, Montgomery and Prince George's Counties in Maryland, and Northern Virginia. POB seeks a Senior Director who will be responsible for designing and executing solutions for all activities related to the operations of these programs. Help maximize children's sight for a lifetime! Primary Responsibilities:Create and coordinate relations with key community stakeholders to improve awareness of vision issues and services available from POB and beyondCollaborate with Executive Director on organizational direction and focusEvaluate program activities, procedures, and outcomesActive participation in positive cross-program communicationsCultivate an approachable, innovative, team-oriented program atmosphereMaximize benefits to children and people in need in our area through program endeavorsMaintain annual program budgetWork with team on recruitment of necessary staff and volunteersOversee interviewing, hiring, and training processSupervise and provide leadership to several paid staff members and volunteersMaintain executive-level managerial and supervisory responsibility for overall operation of Children's Vision Screening Program and Eyeglass ProgramParticipate in continuing education courses and conferences as needed to drive continual improvementOther duties as assigned Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 5 (five) or more years Director-level experience or equivalent combination of education and experienceSignificant program management experience. Must have attention to detail, ability to multi-task and maintain a leadership perspectiveDemonstrated experience establishing program goals and objectives that support a strategic planWell-connected with relative community stakeholdersExcellent mathematical, statistical and evaluation skills.
