The Kennedy Center, which opened on September 8, 1971, is located on 17 acres overlooking the Potomac River in Washington, D.C. The Center continues its efforts to fulfill President Kennedy's vision by producing and presenting an unmatched variety of theater and musicals, dance and ballet, orchestral, chamber, jazz, popular, world, and folk music, and multimedia performances for all ages.

Job Description:

The Content Migration/Redesign Specialist will work primarily off-site with regular face-to-face or web-conferenced meetings. Primary focus will be working with the Kennedy Center - Education Division - Digital Learning team to migrate content from artsedge.kennedy-center.org to the KC's new platform. This individual will work up to 20-30 hours per week for a period of approximately 6 months. This individual will also work with the rest of the team to develop an updated UX template to match a new optimized design and philosophy. Instructional design perspective is critical. Must also have a background in and solid understanding of K-12 education either from a teaching or curriculum design perspective. This individual must also exercise ingenuity and originality in daily problem-solving and should be able to demonstrate good judgment and initiative in performing assigned tasks and in completing projects on schedule. Excellent interpersonal relations with all levels is a must for this role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

90% Review current ARTSEDGE materials and recreate on new platform
  • Review current inventory, develop solid familiarity with current ARTSEDGE collection and adopt system of documenting changes and content migration progress
  • Synthesize and recreate ARTSEDGE content/lessons in new streamlined format
  • Build new content on new platform
  • Help develop and implement tagging process

10% Quality Control
  • Assure all content meets standards of quality, measured in terms of persuasion, consistency, authenticity, and uniqueness
  • Review other similar educational content outlets and content design approaches to understand emerging standards and innovation

N/A Responds to the needs and requests of Kennedy Center management and staff in a professional and expedient manner, adheres to all employer policies and procedures, and other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably a Master's.
  • A background in and solid understanding of K-12 education either from a teaching or curriculum design perspective.
  • You must be comfortable working remotely and possess excellent communication and project management skills.
  • You have experience working with Episerver or similar type of website building platform such as WordPress, Weebly, Wix, Joomla, Squarespace, etc.
  • You have experience with Adobe Creative Cloud suite of applications.
  • You understand web accessibility standards including WCAG and universal design.
  • You have experience with HTML and CSS.


Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate in person and on the telephone. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel in order to operate computer keyboard, office equipment, and other essential tasks. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, and reach with hands and arms. This position infrequently lifts, carries, or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment:

Individual will work off-site.

Travel not required if not local. If local, parking will be reimbursed for occasional meetings. All other contact will be virtual.
