Job RequirementsPrimary RoleClinical Scheduler will oversee the scheduling and authorization of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) evaluations and treatment.Secondary RoleRegistered Behavior Technician (RBT) can include providing clinical instruction and behavior reduction protocols based upon the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA) to children with autism spectrum disorders and related developmental disabilities within a clinical setting. The RBT will collect data on programs, assist with parent training, and assist the BCBA with clinical assessments as needed. Duties can include direct service as well as preparing patient programming materials as needed.Job FunctionsClinical Scheduler essential job duties: Obtain insurance authorizations for appointments Obtain physician orders for services to be provided Collect and manage data on insurance provider authorizations/denials/need for re-submissions Maintain patient waitlist with detailed notation Manage and maintain schedule for BCBAs/RBTs Manage status of patient authorizations Schedule all appointments and provide accurate schedule updates to supervisor Distribute employee schedules accordingly Complete comprehensive patient intakes via telephone Scan intakes/orders/authorization into medical record Send documentation directly to insurance companies for authorizations Answer telephone calls and return telephone calls within one business day Respond to calls/emails regarding status of appointments/insurance authorizations/physician orders Provide reminder calls for initial evaluations and appointments Return scheduling related phone messages/emails within one business day Assist with coordination of care with referring providers/physicians (ie, sending documentation regarding patient status) and Assist with triaging patients and providing alternative referrals to families Accurately create reports as requested Communicate with psychology department regarding urgent patient mental health needsRegistered Behavior Technician Job Duties Provide direct patient care in 1:1 and group settings utilizing a combination of intensive teaching and natural environment training arrangements. Follow the prescribed behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols. Follow and record data for prescribed toilet training protocols. Collect, record, and summarize data on observable patient behavior. Assist with parent and caregiver training in line with patients individualized treatment and behavior reduction protocols. Effectively communicate with parents and caregivers regarding patient progress as instructed by the Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Utilize safe & appropriate handing procedures when working with patients. Maintain patient confidentiality. Assist BCBA with skill acquisition and behavior reduction assessments. Assist BCBA in preparing client materials as instructed. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment. Collaborate with treatment team including patient, parents and caregivers, outside professionals, BCBA, and outpatient therapists (Speech, OT, PT, etc). Maintain and acquire technical knowledge by attending required trainings. May perform other duties in addition to those outlined in this job description.QualificationsRequired Experience: Two years of prior clerical experience within a health care environment.Skills Medical Terminology/ Mental Health understanding is required, CPT/ICD Coding is preferred Working knowledge of medical and private insurance procedures Proficient with hospital computer programs Insurance terminology use and understanding Professional and polite telephone manners Strong organizational skills Knowledge/experience of computer systems including, but not limited to: Windows, Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word programs Ability to prioritize and manage multiple talks with efficiency Perform other duties as requiredPreferred ExperienceOne or more years of experience with working with children or young adults (1 21 years) with autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, and other developmental delays in a home, school, or community setting; experience implementing principles of applied behavior analysisLicense/CertificationsRegistered Behavior Technician certification; if not certified at time of employment, employee must obtain RBT within 6 months of starting employmentRequired EducationHigh School Diploma and must have completed 60 hours of college coursework from an accredited university. Enrollment in college coursework for at least 6 hours per semester from an accredited university and/or at least 6 months of experience delivering Applied Behavior Analysis services may be substituted for 60 hours of completed college coursework.Preferred EducationBachelors or Masters degree in Psychology, Education, Applied Behavior Analysis, Speech and Hearing Services, or related field.The HSC Health Care System combines the resources of a health plan, pediatric hospital, home health agency and nonprofit foundation to serve and empower families with complex health care needs.
