What You Will Do: Registered Nurse (RN) - Psychiatry - Supplemental/Per Diem - UM BWMC Position Highlights 12 hours per biweekly pay period and every 3rd weekend (both Saturday and Sunday) Adult (2 East) psych unit that provides evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of acute, unstable adult patients with mental illness Unit is a locked double door entry inpatient psychiatric unit with both voluntary and involuntary patients Unit has both semi-private rooms and ADA private rooms. The latter serves isolation needs whether of a medical, physical limitation and/or psychiatric condition This unit operates 24 hours per day Patients are aged 18 and older Major diagnostic categories include psychotic and mood disorders. About 50% of patients have co-morbid substance abuse disorders; approximately 40% have concurrent medical conditions, of which diabetes and hypertension are the most prevalent About University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center The Right Choice. What You Need to Be Successful: Education Graduate from an accredited nursing education program approved by the Board of Nursing or found by the Board to be substantially equivalent to the programs in Maryland. Successful completion of a refresher course within past 6 months if nursing practice has not occurred within the past 5 years. Maintains all Clinical Nurse I core expectations Experience/Skills Registered Nurse with more than (>) 1 year of nursing experiencePrefer 1-2 years of Behavioral Health RN experience preferred, 1-2 years of Psych ED RN experience a plusAbility to learn and use computer systems in order to manage patient informationDemonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills Certification/License Currently licensed as an RN in the state of Maryland.
