Responsibilities

  • Leads a team of Health Technicians in a call center; generates work schedules, reassigns workloads as needed, and coordinates approval of work schedules through direct manager.
  • Instructs employees in specific tasks and job techniques and makes available written instructions, reference materials and supplies.
  • Communicates diet restrictions, nutrient goal information and food item choices to the patient.
  • Answers telephone calls to receive menu selections from room service patient.
  • Ensures that the kitchen receives patient order information in order to begin meal preparation.
  • Contacts medical staff such as nurses and dietitians to inform them of any changes and clarifications concerning patient meal requests.
  • Verifies the accuracy of meal orders using a computerized or manual system.

Qualifications

You qualify at the GS-07 level, if you meet one of the following qualification requirements:

You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal Government obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: distributing and balancing workloads; generating work schedules; providing on-the-job training to nutrition staff; reviewing and verifying diet orders; communicating diet and nutrition information to patients and patient care staff; using a computerized system to enter nutrition into a patient's record.

OR

Completed one full year of graduate education in Nutrition, Dietetics or any other subject directly related to the work of the position.

OR

Possess a combination of post baccalaureate education and experience directly related to the position that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
