The Center for Global Policy (CGP) is an independent nonprofit bipartisan think-tank based in Washington, DC. We focus on US foreign policy, international security, global stability and the geopolitics of Muslim-majority countries. CGP team of policy experts informs policy discourses at all levels of government - from the White House to the Department of State to the Armed Forces - on a wide range of foreign policy issues. CGP is looking for a Communications Manager who has a passion for our mission, who can drive our strategy to Congress, the Executive Branch, to policymakers, academia, and American people on how CGP is making a difference to foreign policy issues. The Center for Global Policy has 5 distinct programmatic and research units: Governance in Muslim SocietiesConflict, Stabilization and DevelopmentEmerging Civil SocietyDisplacement and MigrationNon-State Actors in Fragile Environments (NSAFE) Job Needs: The Communications Manager will advance CGP's mission by increasing the reach and impact of our work: enhancing its overall reputation for excellence and expertise, strengthening relationships with key audiences and partners, raising the visibility of CGP experts and shaping CGP's public image both in the United States and overseas. The Communications Manager is responsible for key strategic functions, including congressional relations, public affairs and communications, events management, promotion of CGP events and publications, and CGP's presence on social media. He/She is accountable for CGP's profile on Capitol Hill, in the press, among policy makers and the foreign policy community, and across the US and beyond. Key Responsibilities: * Serve as the senior communications advisor and lead on public affairs initiatives. * Raise the profile of CGP in the United States and abroad through traditional news media, public events, social media and other communications outlets, as well as effective public outreach. * Oversee and update CGP branding, public outreach materials and graphic standards. * Strengthen and deepen the connections to key audiences, including political leaders, international and regional collaborators, public organizations and partners, and develop and lead efforts to expand CGP's reach to new strategic audiences. * Design, develop and execute a data analytics approach to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of public relations. * Lead an effective Congressional relations implementation strategy to ensure strong, long-term support for CGP on Capitol Hill. * Lead the development and publication of CGP's quarterly and annual reports. Qualifications * Master's degree in international affairs, political science, conflict studies or related field highly desirable; * A minimum of 8-10 years of strategic communications experience including public relations, policy coordination, Congressional or intergovernmental affairs, and expertise in working with media professionals is required; * Capitol Hill experience is highly desirable; * Experience in various government branches or policy institutes is highly desirable; * Knowledge of and comfort with media audiences, policymakers, government officials, development professionals, and experts in the foreign policy field; * Demonstrated stature, gravitas and confidence needed to gain the respect of key media consumers is required; * Excellent communicator and presenter, with exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills; and * Proven ability to think strategically, work collaboratively and maintain humor and grace under pressure.
