Responsibilities

The Pathways Recent Graduate Program gives Recent Graduates the opportunity to gain valuable work experience and the opportunity to foster networking relationships. If you are seeking for an opportunity to challenge you then this opportunity is for you!

This position is located in the Financial Management Division, Arlington, VA.

The incumbent will perform the following duties:
  • Identifies problems and takes corrective action;
  • Provides technical advise during development, implementation, and operation of acquisition;
  • Provides support during development, implementation, and operation of acquisition; and
  • Review and evaluates established procedures.

Qualifications

Applicants must have obtained a qualifying associates, bachelors, master's, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution, within the previous two years unless military service interfered with a veterans eligibility to apply during that two year time frame. Veterans meeting the above exclusion may apply within two years of discharge or 6 years from the date of receipt of the degree whichever comes first.

Current students may apply within 9 months of meeting their educational requirements.

Applicants must have or will have to have in the next nine months a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major in any field; OR At least 24 semester hours in any combination of the following fields: accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organization and management.

At the GS-9 level or equivalent pay band in the Federal service you must either one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 Federal grade level performing such duties as providing technical advice and support during development, implementation, operation of acquisition, and procurement components; and identifying user errors and taking corrective action; or have two years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree or LL.B. or JD; or have a combination of both, experience and education.

Education

All academic degrees and coursework must be completed at a college or university that has obtained accreditation or pre-accreditation status from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a list of schools that meet this criteria, click here .

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One year of graduate education in considered to be the number of credit hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. If selected, you must sign a Pathways Recent Graduate Participant Agreement.

This is a one year appointment in the excepted service which may lead to a term or permanent appointment in the competitive service.

Upon successful completion of the Recent Graduate program, Recent Graduates may be converted to a term or permanent position as a Procurement Analyst, GS-1102 (full performance level to GS-13) in the competitive service consistent with agency needs, academic achievement, and demonstrated potential. However, future budgetary events, hiring restrictions, or other events may preclude the conversion.

Recent Graduates serve a trial period for the duration of their excepted service.

Recent Graduates must complete 40 hours of training during the first year and maintain a fully successful performance evaluation to be considered for conversion to the competitive service.


Direct Deposit: All Federal employees are required to have Federal salary payments made by direct deposit to a financial institution of their choosing.
