Summary

This position is located within the Office of Science and Technology (OST), Information Technology (ITSDD) Services Delivery Division in Washington, DC.

Serves as a Branch Chief within the division and is responsible for Bureau wide programs, Bureau imaging systems, help desk support, voice and data communications. Direct branch activities and performs the full range of supervisory functions over the personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes, tests, installs, implements and supports new or existing application software.
  • Manages, coordinates and directs programmatic functions relative to the practices, systems, techniques and principles of information technology.
  • Evaluates new applications software technologies, ensuring the rigorous application of information security information assurance policies and practices to the delivery of software services.
  • Ensures the application of information security information assurance policies, principles and practices in the delivery of all IT services.
  • Manages and directs branch activities and performs the full range of supervisory functions over the personnel.
  • Manages contracts, leases, and equipment and ensures that all contract management, either products or personnel, are compliant with Federal Acquisition regulations.

    Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progresses.

Qualifications

To qualify for the GS-14: You must have IT related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies list below. Experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.

All academic degrees and course work must be completed at a college or university that has obtained accreditation or pre-accreditation status from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a list of schools that meet this criteria see www.ed.gov .

Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas for facts)to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to other, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Must have at least one year of specialized experience at, or equivalent to, the GS-13 Federal grade level. Specialized experience is defined as experience providing technical leadership; experience having authority over software development, integration and reengineering programs; and experience with oversight and responsibility to ensure integrity and functionality of systems in national level exercises, as well as law enforcement initiatives.
