Position Title: Development AssociateSalary: $41,000 annuallyLocation: Washington, DC Reports To: Managing Director, Corporate Relations Purpose and DescriptionUnder the supervision of the Managing Director of Corporate Relations, the Development Associate works with the Development team within the External Affairs division at large in providing administrative support for all development related programs and events with the organization. The Development Associate is responsible for supporting development activities and programs, with a focus on corporate fundraising. Primary responsibilities include: Salesforce data entry, drafting of development correspondence, scheduling, event planning support including sending and tracking of invitations and RSVP's and preparation of briefing materials, tracking finances for Council donors and prospects, and other special projects as needed. Essential FunctionsDraft, send and track all development correspondence including solicitation letters and mailings, invoices, thank you notes, receipts as well as donor and event briefings, etc. Assist with managing Meridian Corporate Council membership by tracking all donor and prospect correspondence as well as pledge and payment status in Salesforce Serve as a primary Salesforce database point of contact for the Corporate Relations team within the External Affairs division; tracks and enters checks and funds received in Salesforce and liaises with the Finance team to ensure consistent and accurate inputting; create and maintain development lists in Salesforce database for prospecting, cultivation, and stewardship activities Support events by sending invitations, tracking RSVP's, coordinating logistics, preparing materials and provide day-of staff support including check-in etc. Assist with communications efforts around Development programs including writing program summaries and content for the website and newsletters, drafting social media posts, update website etc. Conduct prospect research, assist with outreach/cold-calls and emails to prospective donors Other support as directed by the Managing Director of Corporate Relations, Senior Vice President of External Affairs, and Executive leadership Other duties and special projects as assigned Minimum QualificationsExperience/EducationUndergraduate degree 1-2 years experience, preferably in a non-profit, association, or government agencyAny equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesUnderstanding and interest in non-profit development and fundraising activities Knowledge and experience working with the Salesforce database, or similar CRM database Event planning and customer service experience Exceptional writing skills; experience writing a variety of forms of correspondence including solicitation letters, thank you notes, briefings Familiarity with staffing events Excellent phone and interpersonal skills Exceptional organizational skills, detail oriented and proven ability to prioritize multiple concurrent projects Experience with Microsoft Office Suite Physical Effort and DexterityNot applicableVisual Acuity, Hearing, and Speaking Excellent verbal and written command of the English language Environment and SchedulingInterest in working with an international not-for-profit professional exchange organizationInterest in working within a diverse, fast-paced work environmentThere will be an expectation to work at organizational events that take place before and after regular work hours This position is classified FLSA non-exempt.
