Job Summary: The supervisor for Family Functional Therapy (FFT) oversees the clinical and administrative operations of Intensive Family Preservation Services (IFPS) as delineated in the FFT standards, including crisis intervention, counseling, skill building, concrete services, and advocacy. The position must be committed to the FFT model. The FFT team consists of Master level therapists who provide a range of crisis, reunification and stabilization services to children and families in Washington DC. This position is considered as essential personnel. Family Functional Therapy is a short-term, high quality intervention program with an average of 12 to 14 sessions over three to five months. FFT works primarily with 11- to 18-year-old youth who have been referred for behavioral or emotional problems by the juvenile justice, mental health, school or child welfare systems. Services are conducted in both clinic and home settings, and can also be provided schools, child welfare facilities, probation and parole offices/aftercare systems and mental health facilities. FFT is a strength-based model built on a foundation of acceptance and respect. At its core is a focus on assessment and intervention to address risk and protective factors within and outside of the family that impact the adolescent and his or her adaptive development. 1. Supervisory Responsibility: Performs administrative responsibilities and supervises up to four therapists. * Oversees the hiring and proper supervision of the clinical staff and arranges for appropriate training, staff development and regular staff meetings. * Prepares program budget and monitors the program revenues and expenses in accord with the approved budget * Maintains quality program practices, enables staff participation in quality improvement, and updates the program's policies, procedures, and manual as needed by monitoring files and records on a regular basis for compliance and authorizations for billing. * Ensures the timely submission of all external and internal program reports * Serves as liaison between the program and community partners * Shares on-call, after hours coverage during the week, weekends and holidays * Performs all other duties as assigned 2. Provide a range of clinical, concrete and advocacy services to family members that are consistent with the FFT model and the family's values, learning styles, lifestyle, circumstances and culture. * Serve families whose children are at imminent risk of placement out of the home and or with Division of Youth Rehabilitation Services due to behavioral or emotional issues. * Schedule sessions at times that are convenient for families and when problems are likely to occur, including evenings, weekends and holidays. Maintain a flexible workweek. * Accept referrals 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. Schedule and complete client intake sessions within 24 hours of referral. * Provide back-up for other therapists as needed. * Assess safety, structure the environment and use clinical strategies designed to promote safety. * Comply with all FFT contract requirements. 3. Utilize effective strategies in work with families. * Engagement and motivation enhancement: Develop and maintain a positive, collegial working relationship with family members. Motivate families and employ motivation enhancement strategies. * Utilize a variety of teaching methods. * Conduct comprehensive, strength-focused assessment process through a collaborative goal setting and service planning process. Assess goal progress and families' ongoing needs. * Collaborate with family members and referents in developing intervention goals and service plans. * Advocate for and provide concrete goods and services (including transportation) that are directly related to the family's goals, while teaching family members to meet these needs on their own. * Collaborate and advocate with formal and informal community resources and systems, while teaching family members to advocate for themselves. 4. Prepare and submit reports required by program contract and the Agency according to set deadline. * Complete and submit all clinical documentation using an online data management system. * Review performance data to identify needed areas for improvement. * Work with supervisor and the FFT consultant on quality plans. * Work with supervisor to complete professional development plans and performance reviews. * Complete and submit all Agency paperwork and required personnel documents. 5. Participate in Agency, community, and all required external meetings. * Participate in weekly team consultation meeting. * Consult with the developers about every family at least once per week. * Participate in quality enhancement components of the FFT model. * Participate in all required therapist training and Clinical Services System (CSS) activities. * Represent the Agency in community meetings and on inter-agency teams as directed. 6. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Requirements EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: * Master's Degree in Social Work * Clinical Social Work License in the appropriate jurisdiction (LICSW - District of Columbia and LCSW-C in Maryland). * 2 years' supervisory experience * 3 years' experience working with families and children in a therapeutic setting SKILLS and COMPETENCIES: * Ability to work effectively with clients in a diverse community. * Ability to exercise discretion and maintain client confidentiality. * Analytical and problem-solving skills. * Skill to operate job related equipment including the use of computer systems (MS Office products), including Excel, Outlook, Credible and remote access. #CB Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities.Please view Equal Employment Opportunity Posters provided by OFCCP here.The contractor will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant.
