ENSCO Rail, Inc. seeks an Engineer II in Springfield, VA to perform vehicle accelerations analysis pertaining to vehicle dynamics or vibrations, sound levels assessment using data recorded from the interior/exterior of rail vehicles, vehicle ride quality assessment according to ISO-2631 standard, vehicle dynamic force analysis according to FRA safety regulation code, track geometry data analysis, stress and strain analysis using data collected from rail vehicles, rails or mechanical components, and other signal analysis in time domain or frequency domain. Perform vehicle dynamics simulation efforts, including creation of rail vehicle multi-body models in VAMPIRE simulation software, creation of track models based on track design parameters, measured track geometry, or civil survey data, and assessment of vehicle performance according to various industry standard. Perform vehicle and track testing, including creation of data acquisition program in eDAQ hardware/software environment such as HBM CATMAN, OROS NVGATE, or NI LABVIEW, installation of sensors and recording devices on rail vehicles and/or railroad track components, operation and troubleshooting of the eDAQ system, and assessment of vehicle performance according to various industry standards based on the collected data. REQUIREMENTS: Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field, and two years of experience functioning as Vehicle Dynamics Engineer in railroad industry, which included railroad engineering and rail vehicle design experience, experience with VAMPIRE simulation software, experience with measurement equipment such as SOMAT eDAQ system, MINIPROF wheel rail measurement system, and OROS noise analyser, railroad testing experience with ISO ride quality measurements using accelerometer and safety against derailment testing using instrumented wheelsets, and MATLAB experience, which included design data processing algorithm, large-scale data analysis, data visualization, and creating data analysis tools in GUI.
