Duties & Responsibilities Medical Science & Computing is searching for a Senior Scientist to provide support to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This opportunity is full-time with MSC and is on-site in Bethesda, Maryland.Maintain primary keratinocyte cell cultures. In particular, requires use of mitotically arrested fibroblast feeders to support keratinocyte growth. This requires frequent (several times per week) use of an irradiator. Irradiator access requires security clearance (Public Trust Level 5) Perform confocal microscopy using a Leica SP8, including combined immunofluorescence, fluorescent in situ hybridization and live cell imaging techniques. Evaluate, analyze and discuss the results of each experiment with regard to chromatin biology, particularly as it pertains to the DNA damage response and viral DNA replication. Skill with chromatin immunoprecipitation is essential. Responsible for lab management and organization. Skill with procurement system such as AMBIS and database management of laboratory reagents and specimens using Filemaker Pro. Maintain detailed records of experiments and their results and prepare the information resulting from these experiments for presentations at laboratory-wide, national and international meetings and for publication. Requirements Advanced degree in Biology, Life Sciences or a related discipline.Minimum of four (4) years of experience in biology or a related field.Knowledge of/experience with the principles, practical methods, procedures and techniques of molecular biology, cell biology and immunology.Skill in data management and analysis relative to biomedical research.Skill with procurement system such as AMBIS and database management of laboratory reagents and specimens using Filemaker ProStrong communications skills, both oral and written.Excellent organizational and time management skills.Medical Science & Computing is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
