Job Announcement

This is a job-share position that is schedule for 20 hours per week.

Coordinates and advances the work of the Fairfax Food Council (FFC) community coalition and its various committees in its mission to advance food system policies to improve community health and promote health equity. Establishes effective relationships, engages new partners and facilitates collaboration among multidisciplinary multi-sector stakeholders and volunteers throughout the Fairfax community. Develops grants and mobilizes resources to support community health improvement activities, serving as a grant manager and supervising grant staff in support of FFC initiatives. Develops and disseminates timely internal and external communications about Partnership for a Healthier Fairfax and FFC events, activities, and progress. Facilitates the development, implementation, and annual evaluation of the Community Health Improvement Plan and its associated work plans. Engages partners to assemble and update community assessment data for the Fairfax Health District to inform community health improvement efforts, food system policy, and targeted approaches to reduce health disparities. Oversees administrative support of the FCC, including program planning, logistics, databases, and web-based resources.

Note: The assigned functional areas for this position are data management, policy development, public health and community health.

Employment Standards

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following: graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in field related to the assigned functional area; plus four years of professional work experience with in the functional area.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred candidates will have food system experience, to include community development and partnership engagement experience, prior volunteer management duties, grant administration experience, strategic plan implementation and meeting development skills.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to the position must satisfactorily complete a criminal background and a child protective services (CPS) check to the satisfaction of the employer.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is generally sedentary and visual acuity is required to read data on computer monitor. Employee must be able to operate keyboard driven equipment. Must have the ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing. Employee may be required to do some walking, bending and carrying of items under 15 pounds in weight. Ability to drive motor vehicle and work at various locations within the community. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
