Job Announcement

Plans and supervises the activities of a group of skilled Industrial Electricians engaged in the installation, modification, maintenance and repair of industrial electrical systems controls and equipment. Makes inspections of the plant with special attention to operating motors, distribution centers and other electrical equipment. Reviews and maintains inspection control reports and detail records of all services rendered. Monitors the inventory of repair and replacement parts and supplies and initiates and approves purchase request as needed. Monitors the preventive and corrective computerized management maintenance systems for the repairs of voltages up to 5000 volts ac, main bus current up to 4000 amps, motors up to 1250HP generators up to 2500K in accordance with electrical code and safety guidelines.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to the following: graduation from high school or a GED issued by a state department of education, and eight years of experience as an industrial electrician; and one year at the industrial electrician III level or equivalent senior industrial electrician.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Experience with both emergency and corrective troubleshooting measures. Understanding of wastewater processes. Ability to supervise and direct field staff in a water or wastewater environment.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:

Must have and maintain a valid motor vehicle driver's license. Must have and maintain a valid Commonwealth of Virginia Master Electrician's license.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Appointee to this position if required to complete a criminal background check and medical examination to the satisfaction of the employer prior to appointment. Subject to 24-hour call back and must, therefore, be able to work emergency overtime.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to distinguish different color wiring. Must be capable of climbing ladders, steps and lifting 50 pounds. Working in conditions that include inclement weather as well as being exposed to hazardous waste.

SELECTION PROCEDURE:
Panel interview may include an exercise.
