Job Description

Are you a compensation professional looking to expand your knowledge of base and variable pay, as well as HRIS and analytics? As Compensation Analyst for The Washington Post's dynamic Human Resources department, you'll put your skills to work managing our day-to-day compensation processes and contributing to strategic-level programs designed to strengthen and enhance this critical function of our department. You'll assess, develop, implement and administer internally equitable and externally competitive base pay/variable pay programs. Why? Responsibilities include:
  • Provide compensation consulting services to hiring managers, senior management, and HR team members including job design, evaluation, competitive market analysis, and internal pay equity
  • Maintain and optimize the online market-pricing tool (MarketPay) by monitoring integrations, resolving data issues, and managing vendor relationships
  • Participate in multiple salary surveys
  • Prepare compensation analyses and dashboards in Excel and HRIS (Workday)
  • Administer annual merit and bonus processes, including budgeting, HRIS configuration and optimization, and employee communications
  • Streamline and maintain compensation plans, processes, and transactions in Workday


Requirements include:
  • Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of experience in compensation, finance or data analytics
  • Proven knowledge of compensation practices, as well as state and federal laws
  • Prior experience managing compensation programs and data integrity
  • Advanced Excel skills, proficiency in Microsoft office
  • Excellent time management, project management communication skills
  • Strong attention to details
  • PHR, SPHR, CCP or advanced degree (desired)
