Summary

The selectee for this position will serve as a Motor Vehicle Operator in the Transportation Branch, G-4 Logistics Division of Marine Corps Base (MCB), Quantico, VA.

Responsibilities

  • You will transport school-age dependent children on scheduled routes to/from Virginia Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools.
  • You will notify his/her supervisor or dispatcher if passenger disturbances prohibit safe operation on the bus and cannot be reconciled by the operator within the scope of his or her authority.
  • You will report all violations of the VADESS Student Code of Conduct to appropriate school principals and/or administrators.
  • You will operate and/or ensure proper operation of school bus safety controls when transporting students, to include warning lights, safety swing-arms articulating stop signs affixed to the school bus, etc.
  • You will operate gasoline or diesel-powered school/passenger busses of multiple types and models, including activity, and forward-controlled with capacities of up to 80 passengers.

  • Selectee must obtain a U.S. Government Vehicle Operator's Permit (OF-346) within a period pending availability of testing.
  • Selectee must be willing and able to work Seasonal/Part-time. (A Part-time work schedule describes work between 16 to 32 hours per week).
  • Selectee is required to pass an American Red Cross accredited Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training course within a period ending availability of training administered by the employer.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Selectee must be willing to do other duties as assigned.
  • Selectee is required to work around moving objects or vehicles, and work closely with others or alone.
  • Selectee may be required to work occasional overtime and may be required to work rotating shifts which includes overnight, holidays, weekends, and evenings.
  • Recruitment and Relocation Incentives may or may not be authorized.
  • Selectee must be able to obtain an interim and/or final (e.g., confidential/secret/top secret, etc.) security clearance (if necessary) prior to entrance on duty.
  • Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of security clearance while employed in the subject position, may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Selectee is required to work inside and outside and may be exposed to excessive heat, cold, humidity, dampness and chilling.
  • Selectee may be required to operate vehicles on snow-covered and/or icy road surfaces within the capabilities of the vehicle being operated.

Vehicle Operator without more than normal supervision, such as recording vehicle information on trip tickets or logs.

Selectee must possess and maintain a valid Class "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a Passenger Vehicle "P" and School Bus "S"
endorsements. (Note: A copy of your license MUST be submitted with your resume. Failure to provide the required document will render you not eligible for consideration).

Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the applicant fails to
report to the scheduled drug test appointment. Incumbents of drug testing designated positions will be subject to random testing. Please Note: Marijuana is a Schedule I drug under the Controlled Substances Act and therefore use of marijuana is illegal under Federal law regardless of State laws. A positive drug test result for marijuana (or any other drug tested for) will result in withdrawal of the tentative job offer and ineligibility to apply for a position within the Department of Defense for 6 months from the date of the drug test.

Within the Preceding 5 years the selectee must not have been convicted of a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicating liquors or
drugs, convicted of a charge of refusing to take a blood or breath test, convicted of a felony. or within the preceding 12 months, has not been
convicted of two or more moving traffic violations in any state, or has not accumulated 8 or more demerit points from any military base traffic
court.
