Summary:

 

Under the supervision of the Executive Director and in coordination with other staff, the Coordinator of Special Events and Alumni Outreach will manage UCDC events and outreach to the local UC alumni community. Major events include networking nights and dinners for UCDC students and alumni, as well as special events just for UCDC students. The Coordinator will maintain mailing lists of alumni and match alumni mentors with UCDC students each term. The Coordinator will maintain UCDC's event calendar; interact with internal and external constituencies; edit all printed materials; secure vendors for events; and manage event execution.

 

The UCDC system-wide academic program brings students from all nine undergraduate UC campuses for a quarter or a semester to intern and take courses in Washington, DC. Approximately 275 students reside in the building at any one time.

 

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

 

Excellent written communication skills for preparing and/or editing various documents and reports, including excellent spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

 

Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to diffuse charged situations, treat people respectfully, and communicate clearly and succinctly.

 

Thorough knowledge in administrative procedures and processes including word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.

 

Substantial administrative experience, including with purchasing, meeting preparation, calendaring, and special event planning.

 

Ability to follow policies and exercise good judgment, tact, and diplomacy in handling sensitive and confidential information.

 

Experience supporting fundraising efforts.

 

Experience working in a university or non-profit environment preferred.

 

Ability to research, interpret, and apply a variety of policies and procedures preferred.
