Responsibilities

As a Supervisory Public Health Advisor, you will:
  • Supervise a group of employees up to the GS-14 level providing technical and administrative supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the Division.
  • Serve as the Agency expert providing intellectual leadership in HIV/AIDS strategic information issues;develop policies, strategies and plans for HIV/AIDS public health programs/projects for agency or sector-wide application.
  • Advise on the development and application of evidenced-based practices in strategic information and data use practices in HIV/AIDS programming;advise field Missions, country or regional programs, and cooperating agencies in the application of HIV/AIDS strategic information and data use strategies for improved public health programs.
  • Coordinate and enhance effective working relationships across sectorial and organizational lines.
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to the office and to PEPFAR supported countries on program planning(annual country operation plans) and reporting (quarterly program reports), and supports the strengthening of country capacity to utilize data for program planning and target setting.

Qualifications

Selective Placement Factor:You must possess experience in providing intellectual leadership in international HIV/AIDS strategic information issues and developing policies, strategies and plans for international HIV/AIDS public health programs/projects for agency or sector-wide application, such as contributing to the development of global guidelines for strategic information.

GS-14: In addition to the selective placement factor, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Examples of qualifying specialized experience at the next lower level for this position include experience: (a)serving as a lead for designing and implementing HIV/AIDS strategic information and data use programs and guidance to field programs; (b) managing or providing technical oversight to international HIV/AIDS strategic information programs and data use initiatives; and (c) providing technical or managerial oversight to staff implementing strategic information, data analytics and data use programs.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, relevant to the duties of the position to be filled, including volunteer experience.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
