Summary

About the Position:
Designs and analyzes circuits, determining design feasibility, evaluates equipment performance under varying environmental conditions, and collects performance data. Completes testing, evaluates data, and determines acceptability of equipment modifications, validity, test procedures and data, or legality of operation.

This position is being filled under the Expedited Hiring Authority (EHA) for Defense Acquisition Workforce Positions in accordance with 10 USC § 1705(g).

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a senior technician who plan, coordinate, monitor and perform test and evaluation of military and commercial electronic circuits, control systems, and associated components and subcomponents.
  • Provides support to professional engineers on various technical research initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues by analyzing and diagnosing faults in the operational configuration of electronic systems and equipment.
  • Interpret guidelines, precedents, principles and practices which relate to engineering/electronic technician function.
  • Compose reports, analyze, and archive test data.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • Obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and is subject to random drug testing.
  • This is an Army Acquisition position which requires Intermediate Level II certification in the Acquisition Career Field H (Production, Quality and Manufacturing). Selectee must obtain Level III certification within 24 months of entrance on duty

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized experience is defined as experience: 1) assisting in the test and/or evaluation of power technologies/equipment ; 2) performing experiment activities with power sources/systems; and 3) participation on a technical engineering team or project. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower band (DE-02) or the equivalent grade/level (GS-11) in the federal service

Education

  • This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position. Selectees must meet position requirements for certification at Level II in the Acquisition Career Field H (Production, Quality, and Manufacturing) within 24 months of entrance on duty.

  • Initial appointment will be not to exceed 3 years with the option to extend to 6 years.
  • This position is covered under an alternative personnel system known as the Science and Technology Reinvention Laboratory Management Demonstration Project at the United States Army Futures Command - C5ISR Center. The Demonstration project replaces GS grade levels with occupational families and pay bands. The salary range of the position being filled will not be decreased with the change to pay bands. This position, DE-03, incorporates GS-12 step 1 through GS-13 step 10 grade and salary levels.
  • This position is a 6 year Renewable Term position scheduled to last 6 years IAW Federal Register Vol. 82, No. 178. This position may be extended, without limit, in up to six year increments depending upon the needs of management or may be made permanent without further competition.
  • Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement.

How You Will Be Evaluated

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
