Responsibilities

  • You will clean, oil, and grease tools and equipment to maintain safe working condition.
  • You will perform work in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance with applicable standard
  • You will Troubleshoot electronic equipment on air conditioning systems or refrigeration systems to determine operational functionality.
  • You will performing preventative maintenance on electronic control systems to include disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, and calibration.

This position has a Selective Placement Factor: The Selective Placement Factor is possession of an Universal Certification received from an Environmental Protection Agency certifying program. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic without more more than normal supervision performing duties such as: ) Performing programming, maintainance, analysis, modification, installation, repair, and replacement of Direct Digital Controls (DDC) equipment to insure proper operation of all systems; 2) Performing installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of commercial and industrial air conditioning and refrigeration systems that provide a variety of functions (i.e. heating, cooling, humidifying, dehumidifying, circulating, and filtering) so required spaces maintain proper temperature controls; and 3) Acting as first response to all system problems to troubleshoot and make repairs so system maintains functionality.

Incumbent may be required to serve as an on-call duty mechanic on a rotational basis. An on-call duty mechanic is required before, during, and/or after special emergency situations, such as, but not limited to, destructive weather, disasters, or periods of an increased security threat.

Incumbent may be assigned to perform tasks in non-trade related fields as an assistant/helper as workload requires.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Moderate lifting up to 40 pounds is required. If a heavier lift is required, it must not be attempted without assistance. Must be able to work at a rapid pace for a short period of time. Occasionally required to perform work by stooping, bending and reaching while in cramped and uncomfortable positions and by walking, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Must be able to climb ladders and scaffolds to perform work in various heights. Normal vision is required.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Some work is performed outside and may require exposure to prevailing weather conditions. Working conditions in this position vary with a portion performed in relatively pleasant surroundings and a portion performed on rooftops, in equipment rooms, under buildings and in confined spaces. Subject to perform work in areas with high noise levels where ear protection is required. Working in very hot and cold environments, poorly ventilated and lighted areas in occasionally required and in some instances work in these conditions is for the duration of the shift. The incumbent may be exposed to fumes, dust, dirt, grease and oil, and is subject to the possibility of scrapes, cuts, bruises, contusions, burns, electric shock and eye hazards.
