Summary

This position is located in the Procurement Operations Division at Goddard Space Flight Center. The role of this position involves serving as a secretary to the Division Chief and in this capacity relieves the supervisor of concern with matters associated with the functioning of the office and provides day-to-day administrative management of the flow of business requiring supervisor's attention.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains supervisor's daily calendar, scheduling meetings, arranging conferences, training sessions and appointments.
  • Screens all personal visitors and telephone calls, and answers procedural or administrative questions. Furnishes readily available information to aid in the discussion when referring technical inquiries to key staff members.
  • Acts as liaison between the supervisor and staff personnel by providing timely advice on procedures, reports, requirements and other matters necessary to implement involving administrative policies, directives, and instructions.
  • Ability to apply administrative concepts, principles, and practices sufficient to perform independently both routine and non-routine assignments.
  • Coordinates purchases request for equipment and supplies for the organizations by ascertaining the needs of subordinate office and consolidating as a whole.

Qualifications

Must have one year time-in-grade as a GS-07.

Applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above. Specialized experience is defined as but not limited to: Serving as clerical liaison between supervisor and staff; scheduling and/or arranging meetings or conferences; reviewing and drafting correspondence, completing travel arrangements and preparing travel orders.
