Responsibilities

This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), Office of Administration, Acquisition Management Division, Acquisition Systems & Human Capital Branch (ASHCB), in Sterling, VA. The ASHCB provides a wide range of acquisition services for BSEE and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM). These services include management of acquisition workforce certification programs, the small business program, and the purchase card program, as well as contract closeout assistance.

At the full performance level (GS-12) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Assists the Division in the execution of responsibilities by performing a variety of specialized duties such as planning meetings and activities, preparation of agenda items, preparing, editing and compiling a variety of technical, management and administrative correspondence, reports, briefings and reviews which contain narrative and statistical information, data and analysis.
  • Prepares basic acquisition reports required by the Department in order to meet Federal, Departmental, Office of Personnel Management (OPM), Office of Management and Budget (OMB), or Bureau requirements.
  • Serves as the Division's budget contact. Develops spreadsheets and databases as necessary to monitor, track and analyze the Division's expenditures. Assists in the planning of the yearly budget.
  • Participates in and accomplishes a variety of assignments and special projects related to and in support of the Bureaus' programs.
  • Assures all time-sensitive correspondence and data requests are disbursed, tracked, and followed-up with staff to meet deadlines.
  • Assists in the preparation of contract completion statements for firm-fixed price contracts for Branch Chiefs' review and approval
  • Manages the Division's property, records, timekeeping and other human capital systems, and travel programs, as well as orders and maintains office supplies.
  • Processes incoming and outgoing materials such as mail, correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other forms of written communication. Receives and screens incoming calls for the Division.

  • The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcementhas determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.

    Salary Information

    GS-07 $47,016-$61,122 per annum. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level.

    Minimum Qualification Requirements:

    To qualify for this position you must meet one of the following for the series to which you are applying:

    A. Education: One full year of graduate level education related to the position or a Bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement*

    -OR-

    B. Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-07, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: 1) maintaining information contained in databases/spreadsheets to ensure it is accurate and current; 2) using computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint to complete assignments; and 3) consolidating and ensuring accuracy of budget data for an organization.

    C. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of graduate education and specialized experience that totals 100% of the requirement for the GS-7.
