This position is located in the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER), Office of Medical Policy (OMP) which promotes and protects public health by providing scientific and regulatory leadership in the development of medical policy.

Responsibilities

  • Screen incoming documents for action or information and takes judicious interim action on deadline items. Identify relevance of documents to other ongoing projects.
  • Analyze office needs to create and maintain tracking system to track the status of projects. Keeps supervisor informed of new projects. Track all interactions between OMP and other Agency offices.
  • Prepare initial responses to certain correspondence received directly from offices within FDA, or from Congress, consumers, health care professionals, and regulated industry or other stakeholders.
  • Use references such as library resources, policy statements, and guidance documents, to participate in the development of individual responses.
  • Explain, negotiate, and communicate information regarding operating Center-level meetings and all on-going operations. Obtain, clarify, or exchange information that must be coordinated through senior level staff.

Qualifications

The position of Project Specialist falls within the 0301 occupational series. To qualify for this position at grade GS-9/11, you must meet Time-in-Grade requirements by 11:59 pm EST on 07/17/2019.

MIMINMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

To Qualify for Project Specialist, GS-301-9:


Have one (1) year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-07 in the Federal service to that includes experience:
(1)Screening incoming documents or mail for action or information to meet deadlines; (2) Assist in preparing correspondence in response to inquiries for information; AND (3) Providing management officials the status of projects.
OR
Have a Master's or equivalent degree in any field of study.
OR
Have completed two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a degree in any field of study.
OR
Have completed a LL.B. or J.D. If related, from an accredited college or university.
OR
Have a combination of graduate level education and specialized experience, as described above, which is equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service. This experience and education together meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.

To Qualify for Project Specialist, GS-301-11:
You must possess (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 in the Federal Service to include experience:
(1) Maintaining document tracking systems in support of an organization to record project activity; (2) Preparing correspondence in response to inquiries for information; AND (3) Providing updates on the status of projects to management officials.

OR
Have Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or equivalent degree in any field of study.
OR
Have completed two (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a degree in any field of study.
OR
Have completed a LL.M. If related, from an accredited college or university.
OR
Have a combination of graduate level education and specialized experience, as described above, which is equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service. This experience and education together meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
