Part of the Enterprise Risk Management department, the Market Risk department is part of the second line of defense.

Your Work Falls into Three Primary Categories:

Execution

  • Responsible for the valuation oversight and governance process related to hard-to-value products related to the company's credit risk guarantee programs to ensure compliance with prescribed valuation standards as well as industry best practices.
  • Execute financial models and other tools to test the accuracy of reported financial data, test and review the quality of market-based information used to inform the valuation processes, and complete analytical exercises to assess the validity and accuracy of valuation results.
  • Independently assess the reliability of fair value processes, models, and results, including methodologies, execution, verification and validation to ensure reliability of financial disclosures, daily market risk metrics, performance attribution, and economic capital estimates.

Teamwork and Collaboration
  • Partner with valuation methodology owners in the relevant business areas as well as Finance and Risk Management team members to ensure that all risk factors relating to fair values are understood and mitigated where necessary.
  • Represent the team as one of the principal contacts for our valuation stakeholders.
  • Document validation results and other analytical output and communicate results to key stakeholders including both internal and external auditors.

Innovation
  • Develop new tools and analytical methods to provide additional insight into the accuracy and reasonableness of valuation results.
  • Provide innovative, thorough, and practical solutions to valuation related issues as they arise with limited and targeted direction and escalate appropriately.


Qualifications

Qualifications
  • Must have two to four years of relevant valuation or analytical experience in Finance
  • Must have strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have working knowledge of fixed income instruments
  • Must be proficient in SAS programming in a Unix environment
  • Must be proficient in Excel, SQL, and VBA

  • Preferred candidates will have a working knowledge of Freddie Mac's credit guarantee programs and/or the secondary MBS market
  • Preferred candidates will be pursuing or have obtained the CFA designation or other advanced degree
