Summary

This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent will be responsible for providing administrative management and professional level analysis, advice and assistance to the Chairman. The incumbent will also be responsible for all aspects of administrative and operational support.

Responsibilities

As a STAFF ASSISTANT at the GS-0301-14 some of your typical work assignments may include:
  • Advise the Chairman on key areas of responsibility.
  • Review and structures the organization to optimize use of resources and maximize efficiency and effectiveness of the organization.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives and perform special assignments.
  • Determines appropriate recommendations for unresolved or questionable problems and performs follow-up.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-0301-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service:
  • Coordinating staff support and administrative management processes and professional level analysis;
  • Providing staff guidance and participating in the development of goals, objectives and policies for an organization.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

In addition to meeting qualifications, your application package must reflect the applicable experience to meet the Individual Occupational Requirements for the 0301 series.

Substitution of education for experience cannot be used for this grade level.
