Job Description:The Staff Accountant is an integral part of the Finance and Accounting team and will closely with other departments to manage the accounts payable process across credit cards, reimbursements, advances, and vendor payments. The Staff Accountant will also be part of the payroll and monthly close. This role requires a strong grasp of accounting principles and the ability to apply them in a variety of different situations.Core Functions:Manage accounts payable process including employee expense reimbursements, travel and purchase requests, and vendor paymentsRecord payments in the general ledger and ensure that all payments have proper documentation and approvalManage credit card reconciliation and payment processProcess bi-weekly payroll, benefits, and allocation entriesMonthly reconciliations, reporting, and analysisOther ad hoc projectsKey CompetenciesAbility to multi-task and attention to detail with high degree of accuracyAnalysis and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsPersonal initiative and ability to work with minimal supervisionTeam work and ability to work cooperatively with all levels internally and externallyKnowledge of Federal grants and private grant management preferred.Job Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business AdministrationKnowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principlesTwo years accounts payable and financial reporting experienceProficient with general ledger package, Sage/ABILA Fund Accounting experience preferredPayroll processing experience preferred but not requiredNon-profit experience is preferred but not requiredWe are an equal opportunity employer and make hiring decisions based on merit. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. Knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles. Two years accounts payable and financial reporting experience. Proficient with general ledger package, Sage/ABILA Fund Accounting experience preferred. Payroll processing experience preferred but not required. Non-profit experience is preferred but not required
