Summary:We are currently seeking candidates for the position of Staff Pathologist with cytopathology expertise/training and additional training or interest in hematopathology or surgical pathology for our AmeriPath MidAtlantic/Nichols Institute lab in Chantilly VA. This position will be responsible for AP/CP Pathology as part of the Chantilly based AmeriPath and Esoteric Business Unit. We currently have ten pathologists in place in Chantilly, and the new pathologist will be reporting directly to the Medical Director of Anatomic Pathology in Chantilly, VA. This position will be part of the call schedule for occasional weekend coverage.Reporting directly to the Medical Director are 9 additional AmeriPath Pathologists and 6 support staff. The business is a combination of outpatient services (GI, Breast, Hematopathology, molecular, Surgical and Women's Health) and hospital inpatient services (Surgical - level 1 Trauma Center, ER, Heart and Cancer Centers). Responsibilities:* Perform review of anatomic pathology patient samples and quality control and assurance documents.* Perform review of clinical pathology results and quality control and assurance documents.* Participate in departmental professional Quality Control and Quality Assurance activities, eg Pathologist Competency Assessment Program.* Regularly interact with potential and existing clients by phone and/or face-to-face meetings to improve customer satisfaction as part of the sales, account relation and business development processes and to convey the Values, Vision and Mission of AmeriPath/Quest Diagnostics.* Comply with all AmeriPath/Quest Diagnostics policies including but not limited to the following:* Observe all policies in "Your Compliance Policy Handbook"* Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information concerning patients, physicians, employees, clients, vendors, and the company. Experience:* AP/CP Pathologist with 3 + years' experience sign-out post fellowship * Experience within a laboratory setting* Strong customer focus and understanding of AP/CPDesired Candidate Profile: We require a Medical Degree (MD) with US Board certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology We require the successful candidate to have additional subspecialty training and/or fellowship training in either Cytopathology, Surgical. The successful candidate must hold or be able to obtain a valid unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of VA. Must have or be able to obtain a NYS COQ in Cytopathology as well as potentially a few others. Compensation & Benefits:Salary would be commensurate with experience.
