Summary
As an Interior Designer, you will be responsible for the management, direction and coordination of programs and serve as an expert and authority in Interior Design and Project Management.
Location of position: National Capital Region (NCR), Public Buildings Service (PBS), Office of Planning and Design Quality in Wash., DC

Responsibilities
Responsible for the management, direction and coordination of programs relating to the property management, realty services, design and construction, space planning and interior design, and physical security activities and needs of designated customer Federal agencies. Plans, manages, oversees, facilitates, coordinates, and ensures all phases of major prospectus projects for the interior construction, renovation and/or new construction of sites/facilities for federal customer clients. Responsible for procurement on major projects, serving as Contracting Officer (CO) or Contracting Officer Representative (COR). Develop modules for project cost and materials estimating. Assures attainment of established project goals within specified time frames and cost projections. Reviews and evaluates project results in relation to planned objectives. Plans, manages, oversees, and coordinates multi-disciplined teams comprised of experts and specialists within PBS (to include architects, realty specialists, construction management specialists, "space planners/interior designers, contract specialists, engineers), and outside consulting firms and contractors, construction management firms, and Architect and Engineering (A&E) firms. Serves as the primary liaison with the federal clients. Oversees, ensures and provides quality customer service and support to a diverse customer base by the assessment of customer's needs and satisfaction of customer's expectations.

The GS-13 salary range starts at $99,172.00 per year. If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.
To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or higher in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience in assisting in preparing hard-line drawings for required design intent documents e.g. demolition/renovation plans, furniture plans, etc.; surveying an agency's space, equipment, work flow, communication and organizational requirements; developing an agency's space and related requirements; specifying furniture & related furnishings; reading and interpreting basic architectural drawings; coordinating & designing total interior finish schemes & materials.

Knowledge of the principles, theories, concepts and practices of interior design and the design process in order to provide authoritative advice and guidance in emerging issues, trends, and technologies in space planning and interior design. Ability to plan, manage, coordinate and oversee, budget and schedule large projects for major renovations of existing buildings or new construction of new, large, complex, and unique facilities. Knowledge of procurement and contracting activities in order to decide methods and types of contracts necessary to meet project or task order needs and resolve disputes that arise. Ability to lead and facilitate multi-disciplined teams comprised architects, realty specialists, construction management specialists, space planners/interior designers, contract specialists, engineers. Ability to provide quality customer service to all clients.
