Responsibilities

The Financial Analyst position is located in the Analytics Office, which reports directly to the Assistant Director.

Typical duties:
  • Serves as an expert adviser and consultant for the Division of Investment Management with regard to sensitive and complex issues dealing with the operation, management, and regulation of either MMFs (or other investment products that employ fixed income strategies), or BDCs (or similar entities, such as private equity funds).
  • Designs and implements analytical reports about and monitoring programs for the asset management industry, particularly related to either MMFs (or other investment products that employ fixed income strategies), or BDCs (or similar entities, such as private equity funds)
  • Reviews and analyzes data regarding the asset management industry-particularly in the context of MMFs (or other investment products that employ fixed income strategies), or BDCs (or similar entities, such as private equity funds)-and reports to senior management on developing risks and related regulatory issues.
  • Communicates, both orally and in writing, on issues relating to the asset management industry, particularly in the context of either MMFs (or other investment products that employ fixed income strategies) or BDCs (or similar entities, such as private equity funds) to internal and external audiences holding divergent and conflicting views, including other federal agencies, the asset management industry, national and international conferences, and other professional experts.

Qualifications

All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT

SK-16: Applicant must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS/SK-14 level which includes at least one of the following:
  • Dealing with the financial, operational, accounting, and/or legal principles relating to Money Market Funds (MMFs) or other investment products that employ fixed income strategies, including knowledge of portfolio management activities, risk evaluation and analysis, and/or back office operation OR analyzing contemporary trends, relevant legal or regulatory requirements relative to MMFs or similar entities or investment products that employ fixed income strategies; OR
  • Dealing with the financial, operational, accounting, and/or legal principles relating to Business Development Companies (BDCs) or similar entities such as private equity funds, including knowledge of portfolio management activities, risk evaluation and analysis, and/or back office operations; OR analyzing contemporary trends, relevant legal or regulatory requirements relative to BDCs or similar entities such as private equity funds.

    • Washington, DC -- $147,554 - $243,243
    • New York, NY -- $151,821 - $246,900
