JOB DESCRIPTION BSNC, is currently seeking a Cyber Security Server Engineer to serve on a project in Washington, DC at a large federal agency client site. The selected candidatersquos primary job duties will involve administering a large suite of enterprise-grade security products that are used to protect the clientrsquos network systems and sensitive data. The selected candidate will work closely with a team of fellow security engineers to ensure that the federal clientrsquos 20+ security products continue to function efficiently and effectively to protect the clientrsquos network. A candidate with some background in serversystem administration will be successful in this position. Hardcore, hands-on technical skills and knowledge are required to deploy, configure, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot the sophisticated enterprise-grade security technologies within the clientrsquos network environment. This position is ideal for junior to mid-level system administrators looking to advance their careers into the realm of cybersecurity. Security products deployed within the clientrsquos environment run on top of either Linux or Windows Server operating systems. While prior experience with the specific security products in the clientrsquos environment is not required, knowledge and familiarity with server operating systems and technologies is essential for a candidate to be successful in this position. In course of regular job duties, the selected candidate will gain exposure to many different enterprise-grade security technologies which perform critical security functions such as vulnerability scanning, malware detection, network intrusion prevention, firewall blocking, enterprise-wide incident response, and security information and event management (SIEM). Some examples of the 20+ cutting-edge security technologies that the selected candidate will work with are SentinelOne, Cylance, Palo Alto firewalls, RSA Netwitness, Carbon Black, Forescout CounterACT, and CyberArk. RESPONSIBILITIES Work on a team of security engineers to administer and maintain a subset of the clientrsquos wide variety of security tools including RSA Security AnalyticsNetWitness Splunk Enterprise Bit9 Carbon Black ForeScout CounterACT Cylance Protect SentinelOne IBM BigFix Palo Alto Firewalls CyberArk Architect and implement new security tools as they are acquired. Provide technical vulnerability identification and analysis. Assist with security incident response as required. Cross-train and learn from other staff members. Assist with implementation and maintenance of security configuration baselines. REQUIRED SKILLS Basic-level understanding of common computer and networking technologies TCPIP stack Windows operating systems LinuxUnix-based operating systems Networking technologies (routing, switching, VLANs, subnets, firewalls) Common networking protocols ndash SSH, SMB, SMTP, FTPSFTP, HTTPHTTPS, DNS, etchellip Common enterprise technologies ndash Active Directory, Group Policy, VMware vSphere Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to work independently to identify errors, pinpoint root causes, and devise solutions with minimal oversight. Excellent communications skills. Ability to communicate with senior management and federal client staff ndash both technical and non-technical ndash in a clear and concise manner using proper spelling, punctuation and grammar. Ability to ldquothink like an attackerrdquo CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS Public Trust or the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
