This company is well known and highly respected in the Defense and Space community. We are in search of a Systems Engineer to join our elite force in the DoD space in Chantilly, VA. Our client is a leading supplier of GSP systems (RF, DSP, and digital domains) for space satellite operations, as well as non-space applications. Our operations include factory test, launch, business operations, and assured mission capabilities. We are currently looking for a Systems Firmware Engineer, for our Chantilly, VA location. US Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance is required. General Job Summary The successful candidate will have a detailed technical understanding of the work being performed and will be required to perform technical tasks as part of the project execution and customer support. They are expected to be self-starters and have ownership of project performance. Job Responsibilities Develop, integrate, and test real time firmware applications to support various products. Design and develop firmwaresoftware in support of new product development and custom deliveries. Work directly with customers and engineers to perform requirements analysisdesign trade-offs and develop solutions in accordance with systemproduct architectures. Work with program management to scope and estimate new efforts as needed. Use VHDL to implement real-time communications processing for tactical and network communications products. Drive a culture of high-quality firmware by continuously honing the craft of firmware development while following industry best practices such as code review, and automated testing. Collaborate with systems architects to design software solutions and guide the activity of entry-level developers. Work with engineers to perform design tradeoffs and develop solutions in accordance with product architectures Experience and Skills Lead highly technical engineering teams on challenging projects and manage project technical baselines (hardware, firmware, software). Manage the technical, schedule, quality, and cost objectives for multiple project contracts simultaneously. Manage capture of new business for existing and new customer accounts - including generating quotes and leading proposal efforts. Interface directly with customers to ensure job requirements are met. Direct project personnel resources to accomplish job milestones. Develop, track, and update resource loaded project schedules. Prepare cost estimates and technicalcost proposals. Effectively manage project sub-contractors and vendors. Develop and deliver effective customer presentations (design reviews, status reports, kickoff meetings, test plans) demonstrating an ability to communicate comfortably at a technical level. Participate in project status reviews to monitor andor provide inputs to cost completion, projected fee, invoices, and purchase commitments. Generatereview contract modifications and purchase orders. Organize and conduct factory acceptance test project sell-off activities Represent our client at strategic industry conferences, workshops, forums, etc. Preferred Knowledge BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering (or related field) 5+ years related experience, preferably in communications, software, networks, and UASspacesatellite systems area. Experience with DoD Prime contractors, FAR contracts, and Earned Value Management is required. Direct experience managing within different FFP, CPFF, LOE, TM contract vehicles is desired. Work experience with satellite communications, UAS communications and or telecommunications networks. Excellent written and oral communications skills.
