Responsibilities
As a TRAFFIC MANAGER at the GS-2130-12 some of your typical work assignments may include:
- Conducts acquisition procedures domestically and overseas for transportation shipping, storage, handling, and crating materials for cargo, freight, ammunition and explosives, hazardous, sensitive, and classified materials.
- Develops, prepares, and recommends long and short range objectives, concepts, plans, policies, and guidance, which will assure effective integrated transportation validation and support for Agency transportation and logistics activities.
- Serves as an agency senior transportation planning authority in interagency, DoD planning comities, working groups, meetings, and mission activities.
- Coordinates with DoD executive level authorities, Federal, state, and local municipalities and transportation officials to plan, coordinate and execute movement, obtain permits for special, sensitive, and classified shipments that require special handling, security, or highway escort.
- Plans, directs and manages the Agency's traffic program, which includes functions of commercial shipment planning, traffic services, material requisition, documentation process, receipt documentation, and weapons of mass destruction (WMD) material management within Federal, state, local, international, DoD, and DOE shipping authorities.
- Develops transportation policy for handling, packaging, and movement of hazardous cargo worldwide by surface and air.
- Interprets hazardous material transportation policies and procedures for subordinate organizational components.
- Routinely briefs senior leadership on issues affecting Agency deployment and sustainment of shipments critical to the Agency CWMD Mission world-wide.

- Managing Non-tactical fleet management; Utilizing different Transportation Systems for the movement of personnel on official government travel;
