Summary

You will serve as an ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in the Submarine Combat Systems & Weapons Handling Branch Code 271, Submarine Programs & Systems Division Code 270, Chief Engineer Code 200A, Engineering Department Code 200 of MID ATLANTIC REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CTR.

Responsibilities

  • You will provide immediate authoritative technical assistance on urgent mission-degrading Casualty Reports or similar problems affecting major systems.
  • You will provide technical assistance on less urgent but complex technical problems beyond the capability of forces afloat, intermediate maintenance activities or repair activities to diagnose and correct.
  • You will serve as team or group leader providing technical oversight of organized teams with responsibility for functional checkout, test and inspection of major systems, as well as prioritizing work, resolving conflicts, etc.
  • You will perform special engineering analyses and studies in support of Naval Sea System Command (NAVSEA) or In Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) for the purpose of developing or evaluating improvements in design, etc.
  • You will prepare technical reports (and formal correspondence when required).

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to perform occasional sea duty.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.


Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

- Experience providing technical services in connection with on-scene direct fleet support of Submarine Combat Systems & Weapons Handling systems, specifically; the AN/BSY-1 Legacy, AN/BYG-1 Series, CCS MK1, CCS MK1 Legacy, Launchers, Torpedo Tubes, Trainers, and VA Class. - Experience with engineering disciplines with electronics being paramount in order to solve problems affecting the overall system on board U.S. Submarines.
- Experience providing technical assistance for urgent mission-degrading Casualty Reports or similar problems affecting assigned equipment on board U.S. Submarines.
