Occupational Safety and Health Specialist
Key Role:

Support technical and program management as a full-time Environmental and Occupational Safety and Health (EOSH) professional. Address EOSH requirements pertaining to the planning, designing, constructing, implementing, and decommissioning of equipment and facilities. Perform design and document reviews to ensure EOSH requirements are successfully integrated into the project life cycle and assist with technical interpretations of federal regulations, consensus standards, and policy. Conduct construction site visits, site surveys, and technical inspections to identify EOSH hazards and offer recommendations for hazard mitigation. Produce detailed technical reports and deliver management level briefings to management on findings and recommendations. Participate in program meetings with program office and site representatives, engineers, and the acquisition community. This position may require travel of up to 25% of the time.

Basic Qualifications:

-Experience in ensuring project compliance with federal and state EOSH regulations and consensus standards

-Experience with conducting technical site inspections and audits to ensure occupational safety and health compliance and providing clear recommendations to mitigate hazards

-Experience with authoring EOSH technical reports to be distributed to various levels of management in an organization and to external stakeholders

-Knowledge of areas of occupational safety and health, including electrical safety, fall protection, hazardous energy control, HAZCOM, HAZMAT safety, PPE, and fire life safety

-Ability to apply and interpret federal regulations and consensus standards, communicate them to a broad audience of federal clients, and incorporate them into program drawings and plans

-Ability to review design drawings and specifications and OSH assessments and recommendations

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-BA or BS degree

Additional Qualifications:

-Associate Safety Professional (ASP) Certification

-Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM)

-Professional Engineer (PE) license, EIT Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification, or Active American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) or National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) member
