The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is seeking a well-qualified Program Director to join the Office of Development and Alumni Relations. One of 13 schools and colleges located on the University of Maryland, College Park campus, the Smith School is a recognized leader in management research and education for the global economy. The school is consistently ranked among the world’s top business schools by leading business publications such as Business Week, Financial Times, Economist and the Wall Street Journal.

The Program Director for Alumni Relations will work in a team setting to create and deliver alumni programs and volunteer opportunities according to the mission and institutional priorities for the Robert H. Smith School of Business. Reporting to the Executive Director of Alumni Relations, this position will oversee regional alumni clubs, manage alumni volunteers and produce several large-scale events. This will include creation and implementation of new and existing programs based on alumni interest and Smith School goals. The position will work closely with campus partners in other colleges and in the University’s Alumni Association to provide meaningful events and engagement opportunities for alumni and volunteers.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required with a minimum of 5-7 years professional experience in a higher education setting or a complex office environment where customer service is the highest priority. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to work with multiple constituencies (alumni, students, faculty); experience in volunteer management; experience in developing and implementing events and programs, both in person and virtual. Excellent written, verbal, organizational and interpersonal skills;

 

ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple projects. Detail-oriented with high accuracy level; ability to work independently and also a strong team contributor in order to meet deadlines; knowledge of working with databases, platforms, email, social media and other technology. Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds. This position requires approximately 10% travel and the ability to work nights and weekends as needed. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a higher education setting; volunteer and event management experience.
