JOB SUMMARY The Senior Director, Learning Governance is a key member of Marriott's learning function and business partner to Marriott's Corporate and Continent Learning teams. Specifically, the Senior Director contributes a high level of specialized knowledge, skill, and consultative leadership to ensure that learning and development governance, program management, funding, continent outreach, and translations are relevant, current, sustainable, and serve diverse audiences of associates and leaders around the world. The position partners with the rest of the Learning and Development (L&D) leadership team, Continent Learning teams, corporate HR teams, Training Delivery teams, and business leaders to establish and execute the necessary processes to create transparency and awareness of learning-related activities. In particular, this role and the team underneath will work closely and collaboratively with all other areas across L&D and the continents to ensure there is a way to surface and diagnose opportunities to foster governance and program management of identified solutions. The position should have a very strong consultative skill set and approach to problem solving, as well as a flexible and collaborative working style. The work involves a high degree of learning technology and analytical reporting knowledge and requires the individual to be highly adaptable to change, work within tight timelines, and manage multiple priorities. CANDIDATE PROFILE Education and Experience Required: .Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Technology, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major. .A minimum of 10 years of experience in the areas of business or human capital consulting, sales and marketing, management operations, change management, training and development, or related area, demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance. .Experience within a global, matrixed organization. .Strong program and project management skills. .Proven ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressured environment. .Experience leading organizational change initiatives. .Exceptional supervisory and team management skills. Preferred: .Graduate degree, MS/MBA (or equivalent) in Business Management, Hotel Management, Organizational Development, or similar. .Hospitality/Lodging or Service industry experience. .Proven strength in managing multiple teams and/or projects simultaneously. .Knowledgeable on Learning Governance and latest trends and best practices. .Experience with SalesForce a plus. CORE WORK ACTIVITIES .Provides leadership and strategic direction in the areas of learning governance and planning for the Learning organization and closely aligned to learning leadership. .Lead the definition and adoption of design/development standards including tools, analysis approach, development method, models, and standard templates that are consistent with the Learning strategy, aligned with stakeholder objectives and flexible to meet the changing needs of the enterprise. .Partner with L+D leadership to consistently execute global learning governance, standards, and processes. - Oversee the L+D Governance bodies and monthly meetings. .Actively partner and build relationships with Performance Advisors, Development Leads, and Finance Business Partner(s) to provide oversight of the management of the department SalesForce instance, including programs, funding, and outcomes. .Facilitate the creation of reports and resources for L+D leaders to simplify tracking and management of learning projects and cost recovery, as well as a holistic view of the department's health and deliverables. .Fluent in the financial and project reporting tools; provide expertise in areas of opportunity to guide efficiencies in the L+D department. .Oversee and manage translations processes and protocols at a portfolio level, including vendor relationships, costing, continent outreach, and deliverable quality at the department / vendor relationship level. .Provide leadership and strategic direction for L+D portfolio management. .Utilize expertise in program and project management to influence processes within the L+D organization. .Strategically identify areas of improvement in project and program management utilizing tools and past experience. .Coordinates and implements work and projects as assigned. .Generates and provides accurate and timely results in the form of reports, presentations, etc. .Analyzes information and evaluates results to choose the best solution and solve problems. .Develops specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work; sets and tracks goal progress for self and others. .Monitors the work of others to ensure it is completed on time and meets expectations. .Provides direction and assistance to other organizational units' policies and procedures, and efficient control and utilization of resources. .Leads specific team while assisting with meeting or exceeding department goals. .Makes sure others understand performance expectations. .Ensures that goals are being translated to the team as they relate to tracking and productivity. .Creates and nurtures an environment that emphasizes motivation, empowerment, teamwork, continuous improvement and a passion for providing service. .Understands associates and develops plans to address need areas and expand on the strengths.
