Responsibilities

You will become a valuable asset as Public Affairs Specialist in the Digital Media Division, Office of Public Affairs, U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters. You will be responsible for the management, strategic and tactical planning, direction and supervision of the Coast Guard's Public Web Program. You will coordinate web design efforts for the Office of Public Affairs, to include development and administration of mobile arpps and proprietary content management systems.

Being a CG civilian makes you a valuable member of the CG team. Typical work assignments include:
  • Schedules and coordinates the creation of content for digital media formats, oversees idea development, schedules, and manages financial decisions to bring a project to fruition.
  • Develops and establishes standards to develop a coherent, compliant U.S. Coast Guard brand
  • Manages app development projects, to include front end and back end development of enterprise websites and apps
  • Develops requirements and specifications for systems related to the delivery of media involving complex or intricate issues or problems
  • Collects and determines requirements, uses Adobe Creative Suite (or similar programs) to develop prototypes, and serves as Information Technology (IT) development liaison for creation and delivery of new media for electronic publication.
  • Evaluates, interprets, and participates in the development and documentation of overall business requirements for moving image media video and audio productions.

Qualifications

At the GS-13 level: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the federal service.

Examples of specialized experience include:

-Collaborates with managers and editors from various departments to gather material and ensure timeliness, relevance, and accessibility of public presentations

-Participates in and leads project planning sessions with team members to analyze requirements and provide production and delivery recommendations for media projects

-Ensures that all media on the agency site complies with agency and standards

-Plans budgets and manages information for identifying workforce and organizational needs and priorities

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

  • Mastery of the techniques and methods for administration, maintenance, and monitoring of websites and web services
  • Knowledge of budget processes and requirements, to include appropriately identifying, prioritizing, and coordinating needed hardware and software procurement
