Summary

About the Position: The incumbent serves as an Inventory Management Specialist in a Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) with responsibility for analytical work in managing and controlling material. The incumbent will apply knowledge of systems, techniques, and underlying management concepts for determining, regulating, and/or controlling the level and flow of supplies or equipment from initial plan through acquisition, storage, issue, and utilization, or disposal.

Responsibilities

  • Solve supply management problems and communicating solutions to others in the organization.
  • Interprets and applies governmental regulations, directives and policies for inventory management.
  • Prepare written analyses of activities and problems with recommendations for solutions.
  • Train new staff on supply system procedures.
  • Utilize standard inventory forms and documents used for transporting, shipping and receipt of supplies/materials.
  • Work with vendors to arrange product trials and new product roll outs.
  • Work with healthcare providers to find best balance of product quality and price.
  • tilize the procurement authorization process in order to ensure medical/non medical supplies are maintained properly.
  • Perform quality improvement performance measures to avoid inventory discrepancies.
  • Experience with rules and regulations of supply system, supply funding and related report requirements.
  • Research Inventory discrepancies and resolve issues.
  • Familiar with hospital/medical inventory storekeeping and warehousing practices and procedures.
  • Work with automated systems such as: General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS), Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS), Wide Area Work Flow (WAWF), Electronic document access (EDA), Purchase Card on-line system (PCOLS).
  • Use electronic data processing systems to accomplish daily operations.
  • Utilize automation systems for maintenance of acquisition records, reconciliation and accountability of supplies and equipment.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Serve as an Approving Official and/or Purchase card holder to procure medical and non-medical expendable supplies. Conducts inventories, replenish warehouse stocked items and manage stock records. Solve supply management problems and communicating solution to others in the MTF logistics activity. Use automated systems such as: Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS), General Fund Enterprise Business System GFEBS, and Microsoft Outlook software. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-09: You must have a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, LL.B. or J.D., if related. Qualifying education in Business Administration or Supply Chain Management (MLSCM). (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification).
