Title IT Consultant Senior Client district of columbia (OCTO) Locationdistrict of columbia Interview Type Either Webcam Interview or In Person JOB DESCRIPTION Responsibilities Manages the day-to-day operations of the Linux and Windows systems by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance and repair. Ensures that records of system downtime and equipment inventory are properly maintained. Applies revisions to host system firmware and software. Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups. Install new rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, etc. in accordance with standards and projectoperational requirements. Apply patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure add new services as necessary. Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures. Works with centralized Linux administration and database administration team to assist support activities. Perform periodic audits of system security settings. Analyze known security vulnerabilities and threats of OS, JRE and Application Servers. Work towards to resolving the vulnerabilities. Install and configure Linux based application and Java based application in the environment. Deploy application and configuration in JBoss environment with proven back out plan. Create scripts to automate routine administrative tasks. Ensure consistency across the various platform environments (eg, DEV, QA, PROD). Establish Disaster Recovery environments and procedures and test periodically. Schedule and apply SSL certificate updates in advance of their expiration. Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends with little advanced notice. Coordinates IT project management, engineering, maintenance, QA, and risk management. Plans, coordinates, and monitors project activities. Develops technical applications to support users. Develops, implements, maintains and enforces documented standards and procedures for the design, development, installation, modification, and documentation of assigned systems. Provides training for system products and procedures. Performs application upgrades. Performs, monitoring, maintenance, or reporting on real- time databases, real-time network and serial data communications, and real-time graphics and logic applications. Troubleshoots problems. Ensures project life-cycle is in compliance with District standards and procedures. Required skill Extensive experience supporting administration and installation of Linux OS Prior experience maintaining, installing and upgrading security and critical patches on Linux OS Prior experience maintaining installing and upgrading security and critical patches for Windows OS Prior hands on experience managing, configuring and upgrading JBOSS Prior experience developing procedures to maintain security and protect systems from unauthorized use, acts of nature and user abuse. Understanding of routers firewalls switches hubs bridges NICs WAPs SAN modems and firewalls Prior experience in configuration of IP Address, DNS, Gateway of application, and able to configure routing tables. Experience with system configuration and capacity planning and should be able to independently identify the root cause of system outages. Prior experience working with Ticketing systems related to support issues Apache, Tomcat and or WEblogic Ability to manage directory servers such as ODSEE and OpenDJ. Ability to support user account maintenance activities using Oracle waveset Comfortable training others and providing knowledge transfer Intermediate to advance knowledge on database query languages such as PL SQL, MSSQL. 11-15 yrs planning, coordinating, and monitoring project activities 11-15 yrs leading projects, ensuring they are in compliance with established standardsprocedures Bachelor s degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience
