Starting with entry level tasks, responsibilities and experiences will gradually become more advanced and diversified to the entire spectrum of full MEP engineering design professional practice. Special focus will be on Public Information Display and Kiosk Information Display systems in transit environments. Incumbent will manage the design and construction process while being advised by senior architects and engineers . Incumbent will coordinate all disciplines into a complete set of documents that will be used to implement program elements on a site by site basis. It is expected that the incumbent will continue to pursue an engineering license through the program. Through the duration of the program, the incumbent will take initiative to lead projects while being called upon to be specific mechanical or electrical tasks as issues arise. Project is based in Washington DC so commute to that locality is required. Principal Duties and Responsibilities*Assists Senior Engineers in evaluating the desired goal of the system and developing, designing, or selecting the required equipment, power, controls, communication systems, and computer networks to achieve the goal.*Makes site visit to assess the state of repair and inventory site conditions to prepare for generation of design documentation.*Provides conceptual design and design documentation based on existing conditions and scope of project. *Researches code issues and works with City, State, and County officials*Assists in the preparation of building designs and plans using computer assisted design software and equipment such as AutoCAD Sketchup, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.*Coordination of all design professional work, both internal to Jacobs and external third parties, to create design-build documentation for renovations for the program.*Assists in the preparation of Basis of Design documentation, including a narrative description of scope, schedule and budget. (Schedule and budget will be provided by consultant, but incumbent must read, interpret, and incorporate into project.)Reviews drawings supplied by vendors, clients, and design-builder and recommends necessary changes. *Participates in the construction phase by working with construction inspectors and processing submittals for design professional review.*Researches design options and documents findings for Project Engineers and/or Project Managers. *Assists in the preparation of Presentation drawings, Design Analysis, and various studies and reports.*Documents meetings between design professionals to ensure project is coordinated and achieving project goals*Work as a team player in an intense and dedicated team to achieve program goals. *Performs other duties assigned.*May attend kick-off and design review meetings, and interacts with clients as his or her level of experience progresses*Will also assist in programming the sequence of operations developed during the design phase in PLC and SCADA.#BIA#dmvhotjob *Bachelors Degree in Architectural Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is required *EIT certification is required*Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred*At least 5 years of experience with AutoCAD is required*At least 6 years of experience with Electrical or Mechanical Engineering tasks required*Basic knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) hardware and software as well as Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) software is preferred*Proficiency with design software (AutoCAD and) is required*Familiarity with E-Tap, SKM, or other programs is preferred*Familiarity with Public Information Display and Kiosk Information Display systems is preferred. *Knowledge of basic engineering principles and prescribed methods. *Ability to efficiently utilize time in executing assigned tasks accurately and on time.*Knowledge of construction practices with expectation that more will be learned throughout the project.*Ability to make public presentations to public and private stakeholders.*Ability to review the work of other design professionals and review for quality, accuracy, and design intent.At Jacobs, we help prepare people for new opportunities and challenges.
